Sri Lanka and West Indies will meet today at Dhaka for the first semifinal of the ICC T20 World Cup 2014. It’s really going to be a thriller as both the sides look in great touch and will start at 19:00 local time.

Sri Lanka had a poor day against England but they came back strongly in their last match against New Zealand grabbing a 59 runs win defending a low 119 runs total. Now the side looks charged up for the big game against West Indies and will look to take revenge of the defeat in warm-up fixture and the Final of last World T20 event. Sri Lankan will be led by Lasith Malinga in the absence of Chandimal once more and will expect their batsmen to fire from top to bottom. Sangakkara and Dilshan will have to come good today as they have always been big game players and today is the day for them to deliver. Good knocks will be expected from Kusal Perera, Lahiru Thirimanne and Mahela Jayawardene as well. Towards the end of the innings it will be Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera who can do all the damage. The bowling will again revolve around the spinners and Herath will play a crucial role for them to win this match. Senanayake will also be the important contender to pick wickets for them today. Pace bowling responsibilities will be shared between Malinga, Kulasekara and Mathews and all of them are enjoying the best of forms.

West Indies are a real threat to all the 3 sides left in the tournament. If the keep themselves on the consistent side, they will lift the trophy once again. They played their best cricket in last couple of matches and will look to repeat that performance once again today. Sammy has been their real star and the way he hits the ball in death overs is just outstanding. West Indies will, however, expect a better effort from their top order. Smith, Gayle, Simmons and Samuels will be the most crucial players for West Indies as far as their batting is concerned. The way Bravo is striking the ball in the middle is also a treat to watch and he will be expected to come up with some wonderful performance today as well. West Indian bowling has 3 mainstream bowlers with the likes of Krishmar Santokie, Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine. All of them are amongst wickets and if they keep picking up wickets in today’s match, then Sri Lanka will really have to consider the options left for them. Andre Russel is doing superb bowling in the death overs as well. So, West Indies are a good package overall.
